Warehouse421 is a creative center located in Mina Zayed, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, and is dedicated to emerging creative practitioners and those who want to access art and harness it as an agent for inquiry, education, and growth.

Inaugurated in 2015, it grew into a space that nurtures our own world-class talent, where emerging creative practitioners can develop as curators, artists, designers, writers, musicians or performers across disciplines, while exploring their place in their communities and unpacking the potential of public space as a vehicle for progress.

Warehouse421 sees the creative process as a lens for observation, questioning, critique, and interpreting life. It is a practice of risk-taking, sharing, thinking, reflecting, dialogue, and understanding. Putting education at the forefront of culture, it champions the acquisition of knowledge and aims to support the next generation of deep thinkers, researchers, and practitioners who are engaged with the country and the region.

We’re looking for a talented Social Media Coordinator to support our Communications team with creating and maintaining a strong online presence and overseeing the strategy, performance, and delivery of all digital content across social media channels.

Responsibilities:

  • Managing Warehouse421's digital presence and social media channels according to the communications plan and strategy;

Visitor Services Coordinator

The Visitor Services Coordinator role  in  Warehouse421 combines customer service, which is the main focus of the job and handling front house operation and administrative duties related to the space. The VSC is responsible for delivering excellence in customer service in a broad range of front-of-house operations including booking and ticketing , visitor and customer service for public programs as well as supporting the operational delivery of public and private events.

Specification

  • Knowledge & Qualifications :  a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in communication, Arts related major, education, or tourism and hospitality. A good level of standard of written English and numeracy.
  • Skills & Experiences : Basic Information Communication Technology skill this includes Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, programmes such as Calendly, Fetcher, Google Drive etc. Present strong communication skills in Arabic and English. Presents work experience of a minimum of 2 years in Visitor Service Coordinator, Customer Service-related position. Experiences should include a role that involves dealing directly with the public,this could be paid and/or voluntary and is not limited too, but could include settings such as a museum, school, and cultural sites and preferably in the Arts, Culture or Tourism sector.

The program offers internship and mentorship opportunities for emerging-creative professionals from diverse backgrounds, providing professional preparation and career development to committed professionals in their early careers. These opportunities will provide insight into career path and future opportunities.

The program offers internship and mentorship opportunities for emerging-creative professionals from diverse backgrounds, providing professional preparation and career development to committed professionals in their early careers. These opportunities will provide insight into career path and future opportunities. The internship can be structured to follow college requirements, or be tailored for a longer-term engagement for young graduates and art professionals. It can be designed to be remote or on-site, and can be undertaken for college credit. The internship will offer the opportunity to be immersed in a cultural center's operations across various departments with a targeted focus on a specific field. Depending on the selected area of focus as well as Warehouse421’s needs, interns would work with the Head of Warehouse421, Programs Manager, Education Manager, Communications Manager or Operation Manager.

Internship Program Outcome

Overview

This internship is for early career communication professionals interested in working with the communication team of Warehouse421.

We are looking for a creative thinker and storyteller that will be able to develop narratives for projects and initiatives launched/supported by Warehouse421. Ideally the candidate would have an interest/passion in arts, design and culture.

The internship will offer you the opportunity to be immersed in the development of the story of Warehouse421 by using different channels and platforms through creating a holistic end to end communication plan for Warehouse421 programs and exhibitions. This includes strategy and planning, managing and reviewing content, coordinating with stakeholders and partners, and implementation and execution. The internship will cover various fields of communication from traditional media, PR, marketing, social media and other digital platforms. The intern will be working directly with the Communication Manager of Warehouse421 and other members of the management team.


Eligibility

  • Applicants must be over 21 years of age
  • Priority is for UAE based applicants

Desired Qualifications

  • Demonstrable interest in the fields of Fine Arts, Architecture, Design, Art History or Museum Studies
  • Demonstrable interest and passion for leadership in the arts and galleries
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Powerpoint), G-Suite,  and Remote programs such as Zoom a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, must be organized, flexible, detail-oriented
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively on various projects simultaneously
  • Strong Research skills
  • High language proficiency in either English or Arabic
  • Demonstrable familiarity with contemporary art desired
  • Experience in the planning and implementation of arts-related events and programming
  • Present a general  understanding of Project Management
